I'd like to see a demo of 4th edition GURPS run. I know that SJgames has a large goup of volunteers that go and run demos for the company.

I would second that. I used to play gurps when I was in high school and wouldn't mind seeing how it's changed.

Let me look into what it would take to run something quick.  I am interested, and I used to run a GURPS game back when 3rd edition was new.

Thanks for the offer Wake. If worse comes to worse we can contact the M.I.B. (Men In Black). That's what the people who run demos for SJGames call themselves. Im pretty sure there is a section on the companies forums where you can ask them to come run a demo.

I'd like to participate in a demo.   I've toyed with idea of roleplaying games but never
actually took the leap.

This is a good system to try Laughingman.  The principle behind it is a simple and intuitive set of rules and no specific setting.  So you can run a fantasy adventure, a film noir detective story, or a supernatural sci-fi space demon shooting gallery.

I have run a dark age/fantasy adventure game and a modern horror/zombie/vampire/campy movie game using previous generations of the rules.  There is a good bit of sci-fi and contemporary/modern stuff available to help create the settings.  I think this is where the system seems to work best.  I always wanted to try an Indiana Jones style plundering treasure hunter game.  What do you guys think?

I have a better idea, GURPS paranoia  Grin

Dave,
Earthdawn has a killer setting and it is a good game system too.  If you just want to try out a roleplaying game, talk to Chris (locoloki).

Sorry thats its been a while since I posted about the game, life has been pretty busy for me recently. I'm gonna see if one of the SJGames people will come out and do a demo. If not, then hopefully wake or someone else familiar with the rules would be kind enough to DM(or GM as the Gurps books call it.) I'll post more when I get an some kind of answer from SJGames.

Jim,

When you next stop by the store I've managed to secure a GURPS Light Demo that SJ Games has created.  Maybe this will help get things rolling!

I have a copy of GURPS Lite.  I'll start working on a demo adventure.

The adventure will be a plundering treasure hunt of some sort.

Who is in?  And what kind on charater would you like to play?  Send me a PM if you want to keep some info secret (at least initially).

When can we all get together.  Ed suggested a Monday night as the store is relatively quiet.

I should be good for a monday night sometime, sounds like fun.

I downloaded the lite rules, anyone else that's interested can get them free from  : http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=SJG31-0004
I think I'm going to make a thief-like character.. with a few personality flaws per the disadvantages options. Smiley

Ed also has some printed copies in the store.  I think he said he had six or seven left when I picked my copy up.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I sent an email to the head sjgames demo guy in our region and have not heard a word back from him in over a month. So I can say with some certainty that no one is going to come in and run a demo for us. If you guys want to play a monday game, barring changes to my work schedule, I should be able to make it. I just don't want to DM.
