MTG League Rules
Battle for Zendikar League will be a sealed league built from Battle for Zendikar Pre-Release packages.
Entry for the event is $30. Each week each player may purchase an additional booster pack to add to their deck. (Store credit may not be used to pay any league fees.)
Players that signup late will be permitted to purchase all of the boosters to catch up.
League will run from Saturday, 10/17 @ 5pm (Opening ceremony) through Saturday, 11/21 at 5pm
Players in the bottom 25% of the standings in the weekly report will be permitted to purchase 2 packs and add cards from them both to improve their deck.
Grand prize for this event is a From The Vault: Angels. Other prizes will be determined by the number of players in the league
Standings, posting and pairings will be posted in store and online at the new All Things Fun! Forums (allthingsfun.net/meet).
League Games must be played in the store.
Official League Day is Tuesday and we encourage players to come out and play on Tuesday. Players that play league games on Tuesday will earn a random DCI Promotional Card. But games can be played any day, space permitting at the store.
Sealed Decks must contain a minimum of forty cards. There is no Maximum deck size; however, you must be able to shuffle your deck with no assistance. There is no maximum number of duplicate cards permitted in your deck. (For example if you draw 5 of the same card in your booster packs, you may play with all five in your deck.)
You do not have to play the same deck every time you switch opponents or when you come in to play. But you must keep the same deck during a match (unless adjusting from your sideboard between games with the same opponent during a single match.) A match consists of the "best of 3" games between players.
Number of weekly opponents will be determined by the total number of players in the league.
All decks and card pools must be kept in the store. All decks and cards will be stored behind the front desk. Each player will fill out a League Tracking Sheet that will note which cards were pulled in the initial pull, how many packs are added and what cards are added to the pool.
All cards need to be checked out when you arrive to play and returned to the front desk just before you leave the store.
Please note: All League Decks are subject to random spot checks at any time during the league.
The procedures for opening your sealed deck product are as follows:
Each player is distributed six booster packs. The boosters will be marked in a way that distinguishes they came from the tournament organizer for that event. (In this case your name on the Pre-Release Deck Box.)
Players on one side of each table open their boosters (Player A). The player directly across (Player B) observes this. Both players will observe and verify the contents of those boosters. After this process, the opened cards are stacked face down in a single pile and placed near Player B.
Player B will now open their boosters. Player A observes. Both players will observe and verify the contents. After this process, the opened cards are stacked face down in a single pile and placed near Player A.
Player A then registers the contents of Player B's pool, and vice versa.
After registration, each player returns the registered card pool to the player who originally opened the pool.
Players build and record decks as normal.
